The Orlando Magic are bad. Very bad.
After kicking off to a surprisingly roaring hot start, the team quickly free-falled down the standings as the season progressed. Now, they sit at 21-51, tied for the worst record in the Eastern Conference. As a result, it appears they are about ready to make another change.
This time, it’ll be on the coaching front.
Via Marc Stein of The New York Times:
Orlando’s ongoing malaise, especially after the promise of an unexpected 8-4 start, make it a widely held assumption in coaching circles that Vogel will be dismissed after the franchise’s sixth successive season out of the playoffs.
So far, there’s no official comment from the Magic organization regarding Vogel’s future. But, after bearing in mind their previous history with these types of things, it’ll come as no surprise if they do decide to let him go.
Sadly for them, firing Frank will likely solve very little. At the very least, it’s better than doing nothing, I suppose.
