Former New Orleans Pelicans’ center DeMarcus Cousins shocked the basketball world last night, after signing a one year, $5.3 million deal with the reigning champion Golden State Warriors.
The move comes as a massive surprise to the rest of the NBA, as Cousins took a massive pay cut — even if he was coming off a season-ending injury — to join the Warriors. It’s even more of a surprise when you remember just how much DMC hated the Warriors while he was a member of the Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans.
It was so bad, at one stage after a game between the Pels and Warriors, Cousins went in search of Golden State’s locker room after the game to fight Kevin Durant and Co.
The two-time Finals MVP must remember this incident pretty well, as KD posted a picture of DeMarcus trying to storm the locker room on his Instagram story moments after Cousins signed with the Warriors.
The hot-headed Cousins — who has learned to cool down his temper recently — will have to mend a couple of bridges in Golden State with the likes of Durant, Draymond Green and Steph Curry if he hopes to become an integral part of their squad next season.
