One of the least talked about stories of the summer lies in Philadelphia, where Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and the 76ers faced an offseaosn of very little activity.

After being in the hunt for premier stars like LeBron James, Paul George, and Kawhi Leonard, the Sixers went 0/3 on all of them, failing to sign anyone of note. Most folks in Philly would find that disappointing.

Joel Embiid is not one of them. Rather, as he told philly.com, he’d rather work to get beter than them.

“We won 52 games, which nobody thought would happen, we won 16 games in a row, we thought that we had a chance to go to the Finals,” Embiid said of last season. “The approach doesn’t change. Still the same. We’re just going to do our thing.”

Some would say he’s better than some of those dudes already… but does it really mean he’s better of not playing with them?

The Sixers won’t have the luxury of finding out, but they’ll likely be just fine.
