King James has ruled the east for the past eight years, reaching the finals in every single playoff run. James has won titles in 2012, 2013 and 2016 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors. But, James has faced difficult roads in his four other appearances, he lost to Dallas in 2011, San Antonio in 2014, and Golden State in 2015 and 2017.

LeBron James has signed to the Lakers, shifting him to the West. Leaving the east wide open for anyone. The teams in the east have been getting stronger every year and now is the big chance. With Kyrie Irving and Hayward at Celtics, Kawhi Leonard at Toronto, Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, it will be a close battle. However, Jaylen Brown of the Celtics is confident that Celtics will make it the Finals this year, even if LeBron was still there.

Jaylen Brown said on the Pull Up Podcast, “We’re getting to the Finals. No question about it.” Reiterated thoughts on LeBron leaving East: “I know he did have a stronghold on the East … but he barely got up out of there this year. Our mindset was he’s not beating us again.”

The Celtics had to face Cleveland in the Eastern Conference Finals with Irving and Hayward out with injuries. They still took Cleveland to seven games, but once again lost to LeBron James. With two All-Star players out, Celtics would’ve had a better chance at reaching the finals. If the Celtics remain healthy come playoff time, they can almost be a sure lock to reach the finals for the first time in 8 years.
