It’s been announced that Jimmy Butler wants out of Minnesota, requesting a trade. The 29-year-old still has plenty of good basketball left in him and there would be many clubs out there right now that would love nothing more to have him running around in their colors.

We’ve put a list together of five teams that we believe should risk offering Butler a one year deal.

5. Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks managed to scrape into the playoffs last season, it’s not an outstanding list but with the Eastern Conference being as weak as it’s ever been, the Bucks have a shot to go deep in the postseason. Big man, Thon Maker, hasn’t quite lived up to his expectations as he was picked 10th in the 2016 NBA Draft. With a lot of potentials, it might be a risk that the Bucks are willing to make to trade Maker, Henson with a second-round draft pick to the Timberwolves for Jimmy Butler.

Apart from Antetokounmpo, the Milwaukee Bucks haven’t got too many star players that could really spark the side come playoffs time. Jimmy Butler could be that player they need to push Milwaukee closer to being a powerhouse in the East.

4. Boston Celtics

The Celtics are currently a great player away from being the standout team in the Eastern Conference and potentially having the chance to take on the Golden State Warriors in the 2019 NBA Finals. Jimmy Butler may be that player that could push this Celtics side into a true contender. A line up that includes Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler and Gordan Hayward would be a very tough side to come up against in the postseason.

A potential trade package that the Celtics could offer the Timberwolves is Marcus Smart and Marcus Morris for Butler, Smart has been very valuable to the Celtics but I’m sure the franchise would be thrilled to have Jimmy Butler starting on the court as the shooting guard.

3. Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers have had a very busy offseason securing four-time NBA MVP LeBron James and a few other important role players. Even though LeBron is now officially a Laker, the team is still much weaker overall compared to sides such as the Golden State Warriors super team. A possible trade the Lakers could offer to make is a young shooting guard, Josh Hart along with a second-round draft pick.

Hart was named the MVP of the 2018 Summer League averaging 24.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. With Jimmy Butler wanting out of Minnesota, Hart could potentially be an important player for the franchise.

2. Philadelphia 76ers

The 76ers are yet another team in the Eastern Conference that has the potential of winning the Eastern Conference Final due to how much weaker the conference is compared to the strong and competitive Western Conference.

A possible trade of Robert Covington and a second-round draft pick for Jimmy Butler would be a huge win for the Sixers. The 76ers had a strong 2018 season and with the foundations of players such as Embiid and Simmonds, adding another strong quality player like Butler could only strengthen the side.

1. Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors finished on top of the Eastern Conference standings in the 2018 NBA season but after a very disappointing series against the Cavaliers where they were swept 4 to nil, the Raptors are left with plenty of room for improvement. A straight swap between Serge Ibaka and Jimmy Butler is a possible trade option for the Raptors even though it’s a massive risk to lose the presence of Ibaka.

Serge Ibaka resigned for three years as early as last year which will make it unlikely that the Raptors trade him out but there’s no doubt that they could use the scoring power of Butler now that the DeRozan has been traded to the Spurs. A one year deal with the Raptors would be a bold risk but has the potential of taking the Raptors all the way in the East with Butler and Kawhi Leonard on the court together.
