LeBron James is the best player in the world, but with that title comes an overwhelming amount of attention. No, it’s not something every stary wants to be around.

Kyrie Irving lived with it for a time, before growing tired of the circus. Kawhi Leonard, who is a free-agent this summer is reportedly favoring the Clippers over the Lakers because of LeBron. Of course, these two examples are just a few of the names that aren’t particularly keen on playing with “The King” and all the attention he brings.

Kevin Durant is one who would agree even claiming the situation was “toxic” for others in the locker-room.

“So much hype comes from being around LeBron from other people,” Durant said. “He has so many fanboys in the media. Even the beat writers just fawn over him. I’m like, we’re playing basketball here, and it’s not even about basketball at certain points. So I get why anyone wouldn’t want to be in that environment because it’s toxic. Especially when the attention is bulls–t attention, fluff. It’s not LeBron’s fault at all; it’s just the fact you have so many groupies in the media that love to hang on every word. Just get out of the way and let us play basketball.”

He does pose a strong point. The media always has a spotlight on LeBron James. Win, lose, offseason, playoffs, the attention never stops.

For a guy that’s just trying to ball, that might not be an ideal situation for him, especially if that player gets the blame when the team isn’t doing well.

Then again, this is coming from Kevin Durant, probably one of the league’s most hated superstars. Since joining the Warriors, his relationship with the fans and basketball community as a whole hasn’t been the best. He obviously doesn’t care for much of any of that stuff.

Whatever the case, this sounds very damaging to the claims that KD was going to Lakerland. If he’ saying all this, why would he then join LeBron and this media frenzy that’s sure to come with it?
