Lonzo might not be having the most glamorous of seasons, but there’s still some trade value for him, for what it’s worth.
According to Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, the Suns are actively seeking to acquire Ball in any trade talks with Los Angeles.
“Just got a text message from someone who knows chatter from both Phoenix and LA-side. Message reads: ‘Update on Phoenix. They want Lonzo and are actively trying to get him.’”
True, Lonzo would fit nicely with what they’ve assembled there. With a pass-first point guard in Zo, the Suns would be addressing one of their biggest needs.
Unfortunately for Phoenix, additional reports claim that the Lakers are not willing to give up Lonzo (or any other member of their young crew) unless it’s for an established star — which Phoenix doesn’t have.
Despite rather underwhelming season averages of 8.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.4 steals on 38.3 percent shooting from the field, it appears Magic and Rob are keeping the price high on Lonzo.
As a result, it means these “talks” between Phoenix and L.A. are probably not going much further. In fact, unless some big-name player suddenly becomes available, don’t expect the Lakers to be doing much of anything this season as they work their way into Western Conference relevance.
