The Los Angeles Clippers are continuing to impress and surprise the league after they dominated the current Conference leaders, the Denver Nuggets. The Clippers defeated the Nuggets by 21 points with a final score of 132 to 111.
However, the biggest thing that came from the game was the controversy that surrounded the Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic and the Clippers’ Marcin Gortat. Jokic was sent off the court in the third quarter after two technical fouls.
Jokic and teammate Mason Plumlee trapped Gortat under the basket with 6 minutes remaining in the third when Gortat fell out of bounds and the foul was called. This led to Jokic stepping towards an official and get the technical fouls.
Gortat had some clear and confronting words for Jokic and the way he had been playing the game up until then.
“He’s the biggest flopper in the history of NBA. He’s the biggest flopper, 300-pound dude and flopping all the time. At the end of the day, he’s very skilled, he doesn’t have to flop every time, but that’s what’s happening.”
Jokic declined to respond about Gortat or his comments when he was asked after the game. It certainly does add a lot of intrigue for the next time that the two teams face off.
Both the Clippers and Nuggets have been two of the standout teams in the Western Conference this season and both will be wanting to achieve a long postseason run this season.
