As the Cavaliers swoon towards the lottery with every loss, Kevin Love’s future with the team gets shrouded in more doubt. When LeBron James chose Los Angeles over another run in Cleveland, Love committed to helping see his team through the new era.

Quickly, hope and expectation faded, and the Cavs realized just how bad they are without the best player in the world. Following this early season realization, the team elected to go all-in on young guys and draft picks, only concerned with getting a high pick in this upcoming draft. Love, at 30-years old, does not fit this plan.

He is neither good enough to get the Cavs into the playoffs or bad enough to give the Cavs the best chance at a high lottery pick. At this point, it seems both sides would benefit from a departure.

According to Amico Hoops, two teams may be ready to answer the call, even if the Cavs have yet to officially put their last remaining star on the block.

Cavaliers general manager Koby Altman isn’t yet entertaining offers for All-Star power forward Kevin Love, but Altman can expect the phone to start ringing soon.

According to several Amico Hoops sources, both the Charlotte Hornets and Dallas Mavericks have a fairly strong interest in Love, who’s appeared in just four games this season.

Love underwent foot surgery in early November and has been M.I.A. ever since. With a return date still up in the air, no team knows exactly what they’re getting in him, adding even more complications to any potential deal.

Nevertheless, adding the 5x All-Star wouldn’t be the worst move the Mavs or Hornets could make. He’d be an ideal fit next to Kemba or Doncic, and his shooting stroke would prove invaluable to their offensive.

What happens next will depend on how much either franchise will be willing to give up. Something tells me that while Cleveland will be up for picking up the phone, it’ll take some serious giving to rip Kevin Love from their grip.
