There’s still a lot of question marks over where Kevin Durant will play next season, either staying with the Golden State Warriors or moving on to a new team to continue his career at.

Former NBA Coach and Hall of Famer, Kevin McHale believes that whatever club Durant decides, it unlikely that he would choose the Warriors to continue with.

“Anywhere but Golden State, honestly I don’t think he’s going to go back there,” McHale said of the Warriors’ star forward on NBA TV. “I watch him and there’s something dysfunctional with that team right now. So I would be shocked if he goes back there.”

It’s likely that Durant will opt out of his contract at the end of the season and become an unrestricted free agent which will allow him to explore all options. One of the sides that KD has been tightly linked to is the New York Knicks who should have room for a max salary spot.

“KD is going to go wherever he wants to go but I really could see him going and hooking up with another championship-caliber guy,” McHale said. “I know the New York fans will go crazy but him taking some guy and saying, ‘Let’s go here together, let’s go someplace together.’”

It’s only Kevin Durant’s third season with the Warriors but the superstar has already achieved two championships and two Finals MVP’s in his two seasons at the Bay. The team has every chance to win yet another championship this season this season and make it three in a row.

However, the start of this season may have been the beginning of the end for this super dream team with the relationship of Durant and Green being tested with a heated exchanger earlier in a regular season match.

The two-time Finals MVP has kept up his incredible form, averaging 28.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 6.2 assists. McHale doesn’t know where he’ll end up playing but he is sure that this will be Durant’s last season wearing a Golden State jersey.

“I don’t think he’s going to stay in Golden State,” McHale said. “I could see him hooking up with another free agent and saying, ‘Lets go here and win a championship together.’ I’m not sure what city it is going to be in, I don’t think it matters anymore.

“But I think he’s going to leave Golden State.”
