Fadeaway World

Jeremy Lin is not a star on this league, but he’s not that bad to be treated as Trae Young’s backup in the sluggish Atlanta Hawks, who have no business winning games as they plan ahead for the upcoming Draft.

Even so, Lin is one of the best backup point guards in the league and he could really make a team better coming off the bench. As a matter of fact, he ranks last among 160 players averaging at least 10 points per game on just over 18 minutes a night despite his 62.3%.

That being said, it’s pretty clear that Linsanity needs to work his way out of the Hawks while he still has the chance to do so. He’s on the last year of his contract, so the team should try and move him or at least discuss a buyout. Today, we’re going to give you the top 5 destinations for Jeremy Lin.

5. Oklahoma City Thunder

You may argue the Oklahoma City Thunder is already locked in with Russell Westbrook at the point guard spot and Dennis Schroder leading the way for the second unit, but as a matter of fact, Lin’s shooting could really come handy in the team’s starting 5.

He could run the point next to Westbrook and play off-ball or even take some playmaking duties away from the former MVP, and they’re already one of the best teams in the Western Conference.

4. Miami Heat

The Miami Heat and Goran Dragic are pretty much stuck with each other at this point, and even though they’re in no position to contend, especially with Dragic in the shelf with an injury, Lin’s addition could actually help them make the playoffs.

The Eastern Conference is quite soft if you take a look below the 6th seed, so everything’s pretty much possible at this point, especially with Erik Spoelstra as their coach and an inspired Dwyane Wade who’d love to have a last trip to the playoffs.

3. Washington Wizards

It seems like the Washington Wizards have already given up on the season with John Wall undergoing a season-ending injury and them trading away Kelly Oubre Jr, but adding Lin could put them back in the playoff picture.

Satoransky has done a solid job stepping up for Wall so far but they still lack a backup playmaker, and Lin would definitely be an upgrade over the Czech, at least when it comes to scoring.

2. Phoenix Suns

Joining the Phoenix Suns won’t be much better for Jeremy Lin than staying put with the Atlanta Hawks, basketball-wise, at least for the time being, but he’d have the chance to be locked in as their starting point guard for the future.

The Suns feature a lot of young talent, but the lack of a playmaker has really stalled their development. While Lin is no Steve Nash, he’d definitely make them a much better team going forward.

1. Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers need scorers, guys that can create off the dribble and guys that can knock down three-pointers. TJ McConnell is a solid backup for Ben Simmons, but he’s streaky and not much of a good shooter.

Landry Shamet has been good for them, but like most rookies, he’s also been inconsistent. Taking a flier on Lin for the remainder of the season would really help their playoff chances, even if he’s not racking that much minutes.
