Manchester United fans have been waiting for the Red Devils to make a huge splash in this transfer window, but so far, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been quite comfortable with his group of players and it looks like they’re not going to spend much money right now.
The team is running and gunning following Jose Mourinho’s sacking and even though they may be snubbed of European competitions next year, the future looks bright for Solskjaer’s project, so there’s no rush to bring players right now.
Still, everybody thought United was ready to make a bid for PSV’s wonderkid Steven Bergwijn, one of Europe’s most promising wingers of the moment.
Even so, it looks like Bergwijn won’t be arriving at Old Trafford prior to this transfer deadline, according to Sky Sports’ reports.
Instead, United will reportedly wait until the summer before completing Bergwijn signings, as they look to figure out their managerial future before making any big-name signings.
The 21-year-old is currently valued around 30 million pounds, but his price could go way up should he continue to thrive on such a dominant fashion, as he’s already scored 10 goals to go along with 10 assists in 26 caps for the Dutch side.
Also, Bergwijn has already made it to Netherlands national team and is one of three great Dutch prospects alongside Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt, who’s also been linked with a move to the Premier League.
On a related note, Manchester United and Anthony Martial have already agreed to a contract extension, something that may also mean that they have no intentions of signing Bergwijn as of today.
Still, it’s been no secret that the Red Devils have been following his footsteps quite closely for some time now, so we’ll just have to wait and see if (when) they make a push for him.
