The trade deadline is right upon us and that just means one thing: hell will break loose in the NBA a couple of hours from now, and the league is just minutes away from going through the mayhem.
With several moves likely to go down in the next couple of hours, it’s going to get kind of difficult getting a hold on what may or may not happen, especially with some of those trades featuring just spare parts as salary dump moves.
That’s why today, we’re going to let you know about some of the most important trades that could actually happen before the deadline, so you don’t miss a beat of all the things the NBA has prepared for us.
5. Nikola Mirotic
Even though he’s been banged up for most of the season, Nikola Mirotic’s stellar play when healthy has been more than enough to draw a lot of interest around the league from several contending teams.
The Houston Rockets are desperately looking to add more depth and shooters, while the Utah Jazz has been trying to get him since he was on Chicago. Also, the Milwaukee Bucks surge as dark horses to land the sharpshooting wing.
4. Markelle Fultz
It’s been a while since we last heard about Markelle Fultz, but that does n’t mean the team ’s front office hasn’t been actively shopping him, especially with them entering win-now mode with the Tobias Harris trade.
Fultz value may be at an all-time low right now, but there’s no denying in his upside. Also, the Sixers just gave up 4 future picks in order to land Harris, so you know they’ll be on the market for role players and draft selections.
3. Kyle Lowry – Utah Jazz
Apparently, the Toronto Raptors are quietly trying to shop Kyle Lowry, even despite the fact that he’s been playing arguably the best ball of his career, at least when it comes to playmaking. Perhaps, they know he tends to underperform in the playoffs.
The Memphis Grizzlies already rejected a move for Lowry, but the Jazz is actively pursuing a deal to find a replacement for Ricky Rubio. In order to get him, the Jazz would send Rubio and Derrick Favors up North.
2. Mike Conley – Detroit Pistons
The Detroit Pistons and Reggie Jackson are not precisely a match made in heaven, to say the least, and we all know this team is not going to make the playoffs unless they find a true starting point guard.
Mike Conley would like a fresh start in the Eastern Conference, according to his agent, and the Pistons can still make a late push for the postseason. They could have Conley in return for Reggie Jackson, picks and spare parts to match salaries.
1. Anthony Davis – Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly given up on landing Anthony Davis, especially because of the fact that the New Orleans Pelicans have n’t even responded to their trade offer yet. Still, that doesn’t mean this deal can’t go through today.
See, rumors state that Danny Ainge is about to lowball the Pelicans in the offseason and they’re not likely to find a better offer than the one the Lakers did, featuring Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Rajon Rondo, Ivica Zubac, Josh Hart, Lance Stephenson, and 4 draft picks.
