Emiliano Sala would’ve been Cardiff City’s most expensive signing in club history, as the Welsh were trying to avoid relegation from the English Premier League by bringing some more firepower up front.

As we all know by now, Sala’s life was claimed by an unfortunate accident while he was traveling by plane from France to Wales.

The world was completely shaken by this terrible tragedy and while some people were desperately trying to find his body, others had different things in mind.

Thing is, according to Mehmet Dalman – Cardiff’s chairman  – Nantes have threatened to sue the Welsh as they’re yet to pay the transfer fee for the Argentinean striker.

The Bluebirds, on the other hand, claim they’re still looking into all of the minor details regarding the transfer, and that’s why the €15 million payment has been delayed.

“They have asked for what they believe is the money due to them and there is a process and they have initiated that process. What we are saying is that we are not in agreement with that process given the extraordinary events that have taken place and the tragic circumstances. We are not making any positive or negative statements. We are simply saying, please understand there are a lot of questions which need to be answered and that is what we are trying to do,” Dalman told BBC Sports.

Moreover, the chairman guaranteed the club will pay any fee that’s due to Nantes once they have all the information they’re looking for, stating Cardiff City is an “honorable club”.

“We are still in the process of gathering information and that process will be ongoing. And when we reach a level where we have enough information, I am sure we will sit down with Nantes and move forward.”

Two men lost their lives on a terrible accident, yet these guys are arguing about money even before they had found their missing bodies. That’s the world we live in, I guess.
