Jayson Tatum is one of the league’s hottest commodities. With a natural talent for putting the ball in the hoop and a certain confidence/swagger rarely seen at his age, Tatum is quickly proving to become one of Boston’s most valuable stars.

It’s why the New Orleans Pelicans want him so bad, so bad they are willing to turn down a Laker offer that included four draft picks. The Celtics made no promises as to Tatum’s availability this July, but it’s assumed they’ll be thinking twice before putting him in any package deal.

Though, interestingly enough, Tatum himself might not mind a change of scenery.

“The gossip is Tatum wouldn’t mind being shipped to NOLA and have a chance to be the face of the franchise. Because he is not getting that opportunity in Boston.”

Boston is loaded with talent, which is good in that it gives them the advantage most nights. Thing is, their star-studded roster leaves limited space for individual growth, penalty guys like Terry Rozier, Jaylen Brown, and Jayson Tatum feel especially so.

In New Orleans, Jayson Tatum will have the keys to the franchise, a franchise he’ll have every opportunity to advance his game with.

So, as the Celtics look towards the summer, maybe letting a few of their stars go in favor of one isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
