If things weren’t going bad enough at Santiago Bernabeu, it now looks like the team’s captain is about to become another headache for Real Madrid’s fans.
Apparently, Sergio Ramos has had enough with Florentino Perez and the way he’s mishandled the team’s affairs as of late, and with Los Blancos going through arguably their worst week in club history, the veteran defender may be heading out the door.
According to Spanish outlet AS, Ramos and Perez got into a heated argument that ended with the center-back threatening to leave the club in the summer.
Florentino had allegedly questioned the – lack of – attitude most Real Madrid players showed during their heartbreaking home loss against Ajax, the 32-year-old stepped up to defend the rest of his teammates.
Ramos told Florentino he’d be happy to leave in the summer, should the team pay up the rest of his contract, making a tough situation even more complicated for Real Madrid.
As for the team’s future, Santiago Solari’s likely to be sacked rather sooner than later and Florentino’s already putting together a shortlist to find his replacement.
Massimiliano Allegri, Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho and even Zinedine Zidane are allegedly at the top of such list, with Real Madrid most likely to finish this season empty-handed as they trail FC Barcelona by 12 points in La Liga.
