Months after signing Ajax’s wonderkid Frenkie de Jong, it looks like Josep Bartomeu is ready to make another huge bid for one of his teammates: Matthijs de Ligt.
Barcelona have been closely following de Ligt’s footsteps for quite some long time now, and it looks like they’ve seen enough to convince them that he must be a part of the team’s future, as per Barca Blaugranes.
De Ligt has already made Netherlands’ national team and is also Ajax’s captain at the tender age of 19, and is considered to be the most promising and prominent young defender in the world right now.
The Dutch defender has been outstanding all-year-long and has drawn the attention of European giants of the likes of Liverpool, Juventus, and Manchester City, and that’s why the Catalans must act pretty fast if they intend to put their hands on the wonderkid.
De Ligt’s asking price is expected to be something close to €75 million, the same amount the team had already spent in Frenkie de Jong.
The youngster would reportedly love to complete a move to Camp Nou following a series of meetings between him, Eric Abidal and his agent Mino Raiola, and his close friendship with de Jong will play a major role in his decision to leave his homeland.
