Robert Lewandowski is not a fan of defensive football and he recently stated the team’s tactics were to blame for their heart-breaking 3-1 loss against Liverpool.

Liverpool knocked Bayern Munchen from the UEFA Champions League’s round-of-16 for the first time since 2011 and the Polish striker was notably upset about it.

Jürgen Klopp’s team was extremely accurate and made the most of the chances they got during the second half of a match that was tied at 1 through 45 mins.

Moreover, the forward seemed to take a subtle shot at Niko Kovač and put the blame on his defensive tactics for the loss:

“Of course, we knew it would be a tough game. But in both games I think we played too defensive. We didn’t try to push forward to create situations -in the first game and today. We didn’t risk much, we were playing at home it was our game but that’s why I think Liverpool beat us. We were playing too deep, we didn’t take risks, I don’t know why. We tried to push Liverpool but offensively sometimes it was two against four players and that’s why we didn’t do much,” Lewandowski told the Daily Mail.

Now, the Bavarians are set to focus all of their efforts on the Bundesliga, where they’re currently tied with Borussia Dortmund at the top of the table.
