Even though he had repeatedly stated that he wanted to play for Atletico Madrid for his entire career, it looks like Antoine Griezmann’s time with Los Colchoneros may soon come to an end.
The Frenchman is reportedly finally considering leaving Wanda Metropolitano as he looks to find further success and play for a team capable of winning multiple trophies, something that Cholo Simeone’s team can’t offer him at the moment.
The World Champion has been followed closely by several teams in the past, including Barcelona, but he’d eventually always settled for the Colchoneros.
Now, nonetheless, it looks like he’ll finally leave in the summer as he eyes a move to the English Premier League, with Manchester United leading the race to acquire his services, as per Sport.
Manchester United is keen to make a huge splash in the summer transfer market as they look to go back to the Premier League table, and with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer not completely sold on either Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, he’d be one of their prime targets up front.
Moreover, the Red Devils could also try and snub a couple of more players away from Spain, as Real Madrid are reportedly trying to complete a swap that could send them out-of-favor Thibaut Courtois for David De Gea, and Raphael Varane is also rumored to leave Santiago Bernabeu in the summer.
Manchester United are currently desperately trying to clinch a top-4 spot in the English Premier League with the title already out of reach, as they need to make it to next year’s UEFA Champions League if they intend to keep Paul Pogba and Marcus Mashford.
As for Griezmann, the winger is enjoying yet another great season. The 27-year-old has scored 18 goals to go along with 8 assists in 39 caps for Diego Simeone’s team so far.
