Eden Hazard has been linked with a potential move to Real Madrid ever since the team first appointed Zinedine Zidane as their boss to replace Carlo Ancelotti a couple of years ago.
And, obviously, now that the Frenchman has made his exceptional comeback to Santiago Bernabeu, the Hazard-to-Madrid rumors have sparked back once again.
Also, Hazard has never truly shut down the door on a potential move out to Real Madrid and even once stated that “people didn’t have to ask” if he would like to be dressed in white someday.
Now, the Belgian winger has added even more controversy to the matter, as he just admitted Zinedine Zidane was his idol growing up and his main inspiration and reason to play soccer when he was growing up.
Until now, Hazard had been kind of silent when asked about a potential move to Real Madrid, considering he’s still under contract until 2020 and could still extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.
Nonetheless, when asked about whether he’d rather work for Zidane or Roberto Martinez – Belgium’s boss -, the winger couldn’t help to let everybody know about his admiration for Zizou:
“As a player there’s no comparison, I have so much respect for Zidane, he’s my idol. It’s thanks to him I started playing. But for the victories we’ve achieved with Martínez I’d go with Martínez”. Hazard told the media.
Hazard stated earlier in the week that he’d like to focus on Chelsea for the remainder of the season, with the Blues still in the race to clinch a top-4 spot in the Premier League table and therefore, a spot in next year’s UEFA Champions League.
Also, even though the EPL is pretty much out of reach for Sarri’s team, Hazard can still lead Chelsea to the UEFA Europa League trophy, given his recent form as the team’s top goal-scorer and playmaker.
