It looks like Bayern Munchen’s heart-breaking exit from the UEFA Champions League has created a major overhaul in the German champions.

With Robert Lewandowski openly criticizing Niko Kovac’s defensive-minded tactics versus Liverpool, it looks like the Bavarians may now lose one of their most important players.

According to BILD, David Alaba has admitted that he’s open and willing to leave Bayern Munchen, the team he’s been an undisputed starter since making it to the first-team in 2009.

Now, the Austrian full-back said he could picture himself playing elsewhere, with Real Madrid and Barcelona being at the top of his list.

“I can imagine trying something else but I really feel very comfortable at Bayern. Every year there a new challenges and new objectives and the pressure will always be there. I’m happy in Munich but of course, I can imagine seeing something else (in the future). Spain, England. In Spain it would be the two big clubs, I guess? Real or Barcelona. Also the big clubs (in England). ” the 26-year-old told BILD.

Bayern Munchen are currently trying to take down Borussia Dortmund to try and win yet another domestic tournament. Still, continental glory has been more elusive for the Bavarians.

As for a potential move out of the team, Alaba may suit Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, considering he already thrived under the Spaniard, who used him in both flanks of the defense, up front and even as a defensive midfielder.

Moreover, they could use more depth at the full-back spots, the lone position the Citizens look kind of empty-handed right now.

Making a move to Real Madrid and Barcelona could be trickier, though, as both clubs are already stacked in both full-back spots.

He’s still quite young and arguably the best on his position in the Bundesliga,  so, if he truly wants to leave, he’ll find plenty of suitors in no time.
