The Chelsea winger has shut down reports stating his move from Stamford Bridge to Santiago Bernabeu is already a “done deal”.
Eden Hazard has denied the rumors pointing towards an agreement to join Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid, stating that “there’s still nothing” with the European giants.
Hazard has been one of Florentino Perez and Zinedine Zidane’s biggest transfer targets for years now, and the team looks keen to dress him in white following the disappointing season they had this year.
That, plus Zidane’s comeback as Real Madrid’s boss, fueled the rumors about Hazard-to-Madrid already being a done deal, which Hazard categorically denied.
“No, no, I’m not here to talk about Real. There is still nothing. I’m focused on (playing against) Cyprus. That’s the only thing I’m working on now,” The Belgian said on a press conference while on international duty.
Moreover, the Blues aren’t going to let him walk away that easily, as they’re facing a two-year transfer ban for breaking FIFA regulations regarding the signing of teenage players, so they’re expected to be quite aggressive in their contract extension talks in the summer.
Should Madrid fail to land the winger, they’re believed to make a run at West Ham’s Felipe Anderson, with Kylian Mbappe being Zidane’s biggest desire.
