Manchester United are bound to make a huge splash in this upcoming summer transfer window, with the team keen and desperate to take a step forward and go back to their former self.

The Red Devils had mightily struggled all year long under Jose Mourinho’s command, but the team’s back in track since appointing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their interim boss, and are now back in the race to win the UEFA Champions League and make it to the Premier League’s top-4.

Even so, it looks like they’re interested in enhancing their squad looking ahead of next season, as they’ve been linked with a potential move for players of the likes of Jadon Sancho and Antoine Griezmann.

Moreover, the Daily Mail recently reported Manchester United also want to reinforce their defense and would be interested in luring Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti to Old Trafford.

Umtiti has struggled to find playing time with Clement Lenglent at his best and Gerrard Pique as their undisputed starter, and the team would be more than willing to letting him go at a fair price.

Also, the Blaugrana want to make some room and money to make a final bid for Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt, especially considering Real Madrid and Bayern Munchen have also reportedly joined the race to sign the Dutch.

As for Umtiti, he’s still quite young and promising and his playing style would perfectly suit the English Premier League, regardless of if Manchester United confirm Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their full-time boss or not, and he’s still ahead of Lenglet in Didier Deschamp’s French national team.

However, his proneness to injury has raised serious concerns for Manchester United, so they’re unlikely to meet Barcelona’s asking price for the centre-back.

The 19-year-old has repeatedly stated his desire to stay put at Camp Nou and assure the media he would still be in the team next season.
