The Brooklyn Nets are on the verge of making the playoffs, the franchise is currently placed seventh in the Eastern Conference with just five games remaining in the regular season. The rise of Nets has been quite unexpected for most people and if the side is able to make the playoffs for the first time since 2015, a lot of the credit has to be given to D’Angelo Russell.
After Brooklyn’s recent 14 point win over the highly-fancied Boston Celtics, Russell was asked about how he felt about his break out season. Even though D’Angelo isn’t interested in his own statistics, he made it very clear that he loved proving all the doubters wrong.
Reporter: U say u don’t pay attention to stats, but ur profile has raised a lot this yr. Do u notice that?
D’Angelo Russell: As far as what?
Reporter: What people think about u.
DLo: Everybody was wrong, obviously. Everybody was wrong about me, so I don’t have to say anything.

D’Angelo Russell has averaged 20.9 points per game this season along with 7.0 assists per game. In the win against the Celtics, Russell scored 29 points in the big win making it six out of the last seven games that he has been able to score at least 20 points.
The Nets star has come a long way from his days at the Los Angeles Lakers, Russell was quickly traded away as soon as Magic Johnson took over the Lakers basketball operations department. It now looks like just another thing that the Lakers have gotten wrong over the recent years.
The Lakers will now be sitting on the sidelines and potentially watching on as D’Angelo Russell might just have his chance on the big stage for the Brooklyn Nets.
