It finally happened — the moment most of us have predicted since the beggining of the season.
In a report by ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Lakers and Luke Walton have officially split.

After acquiring LeBron James, Luke was unable to meet the heightened expectations. The team missed out on the postseason, posting a 37-45 record, just a two-game improvement from last season.
Following the departure of Magic Johnson, many were speculating whether Luke might stay on the Lakers, considering the nature of him and team owner Jeanie Buss’ relationship. It appears, however, both sides are ready to move on, as it has been widely reported that Walton will be sought after by other teams, including the Sacramento Kings.
As for the Lakers, Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted that ex-Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue is a strong frontrunner to take over.

No doubt, the Lakers are ready to see a new regime take over. But there will be a lot of pressure, as this offseason will present an important opportunity to start fresh.
