The French midfielder is back at his best under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tutelage, but he’s still determined to leave Old Trafford and Manchester United in order to take a step forward on his career.
However, the Red Devils aren’t going to let go of their World Cup winner so easily, as they’re demanding as much as 160 million for his services, an offer Los Blancos are reluctant to pay for.
That’s why they’ll try and make a counter-offer centered around one of their stars, and, naturally, the chosen one was the struggling Gareth Bale, according to Spanish outlet Don Balon.
Bale has been a longtime Manchester United target, so Florentino Perez feels as the Red Devils could be interested in an offer featuring the Welsh plus 60 million in return for Pogba.
However, Don Balon claim the English club wouldn’t be interested in such offer unless Los Blancos are willing to pay, at least, 20 more million for the Frenchman.
Pogba has openly admitted his desire to play for Zinedine Zidane and his agent Mino Raiola has been orchestrating a move to get his client out of Old Trafford for quite some time, especially with him being one of Jose Mourinho’s scapegoats.
As for Bale, his agent has stated that, while he’s still happy at Spain and desires to stay put at Santiago Bernabeu, the door is open for a potential departure given the way Real Madrid fans have mistreated the winger.
Bale’s inconsistency and proneness to get hurt have taken a toll on his ability to step up as the leader Real Madrid hoped he’d be following Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure, but perhaps a change of environment is just what he needs to get his career back on track.
