When Antoine Griezmann announced his desire to finally leave Atletico Madrid, the world was somehow in shock, as the Frenchman had claimed that he wanted to go on playing under Diego Simeone’s tutelage for many years to come.

That’s why he’s turned himself into a bit of a villain for die-hard Colchonero fans, especially considering all signs were pointing towards him making a move to Spanish rivals FC Barcelona.

However, some prominent figures from the Catalan club, including former legend Xavi, have serious doubts about the possible benefits the team could get from making a move for the World Cup winner, especially because he’s not much of a beloved figure in the team’s locker room.

Also, some Barcelona players consider he’s not actually worthy of that much money and that the team could spend it way better to reinforce other areas of the squad where help has been due for quite some long time.

Now, The Independent claim Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made Antoine Griezmann one of his primary targets, as the team was dealt a major blow by Borussia Dortmund when they deemed their wonderkid Jadon Sancho as non-transferable.

The Red Devils are trying to prevent Paul Pogba from handing in a transfer request and forcing a move to Real Madrid in the summer, and signing one of his friends and compatriots would definitely be a step in the right direction.

United, however, aren’t going to be a part of next year’s UEFA Champions League, so Griezmann could be seen as quite a hypocrite if he left Atletico Madrid under the pretext of wanting to win the UCL, just to join a team that didn’t even finish in the English Premier League’s top four.

Also, neither Manchester City, Real Madrid, or Paris Saint-Germain aren’t interested in acquiring his services, so he doesn’t have much of a choice here regarding his future.
