A mostly dominating stretch suddenly has the Bucks on the brink of elimination for the first time all season. But as they go up to Toronto for the final time, Giannis Antetokounmpo reaffirmed the notion that his Bucks will not give in.
“We are the best team in the league. We are not going to fold,” the MVP finalist said after a 105-99 loss in Game 5 on Thursday, according to ESPN’s Malika Andrews. “If we lose, we lose, but we are not going to fold. That’s not what we do.”
“I’m pissed. I’m not going to lie to you. … As much as I’m pissed and frustrated about this game it’s in the past.”
It isn’t news that Giannis is not a quitter — we have seen as much throughout his career. But beating the Raptors will require more than a determined attitude.
The role players will have to get involved, Giannis will have to play big, and they will have to find a way to slow down Kawhi. The Bucks have not been themselves on offense, mostly due to Toronto’s disruptions.
Game 5 will be on Saturday, and it will be interesting to see what kind of adjustment Milwaukee makes moving forward. They will no doubt have to change something before entering that elimination game tomorrow.
