Tottenham Hotspur is living arguably the best moment of its history right now, as they’re just a few days away from playing their first ever Champions League final in front of Liverpool. This feat is sweeter when you learn that the Spurs didn’t complete any signing before the beginning of the season and yet are playing for the most famous trophy in the world.
Having that in mind, many people know if they want to remain competitive in modern football and finally being able to win the Premier League, some money needs to be spent by the Lillywhites. Of course, they won’t have the same chances that other clubs with a bigger monetary power have, but just like they’ve done so far, Tottenham can find some gems when nobody else looks.
According to team legend Darren Ardenton, Tottenham needs to make Ajax’s Donny van de Beek their top transfer target. Donny has been one of the best players for the Lancers this season and his exit from the team is imminent.
Anderton told Sportingbet:
“[Youri] Tielemans had a good half season at Leicester but Tottenham should look to sign Ajax’s Van de Beek over the Belgian. He was excellent in both legs against Tottenham and would be a great signing for the club. He’s a different class to the other players Tottenham has been linked with and the one I think they need to sign ahead of anyone else.
“At the end of the day, the very top players are going to want top money and Spurs don’t pay what United, City, Liverpool, and Chelsea do. There is always going to be an issue with certain players, because whether they admit it or not they are always going to want as much money as they can get, regardless of how ridiculous all the money being thrown around is at the moment.”

With all the rumors surrounding Christian Eriksen and his departure from the club, Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish has been listed as a potential replacement for the Danish. Besides, Spurs have also been linked with one of the most interesting players in Premier League this year, Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha.
After a couple of transfer windows without signing any player, now is the time for Tottenham to start landing big names and improve their level; van de Beek is ready to become a huge figure in European football and a club like Spurs can take him to the next level, just like they did with Eriksen and Alderweireld.
