Even though several reports pointed towards Raphael Varane wanting to leave Real Madrid in the summer, it now looks like the Frenchman is trying to get the team more help ahead of this upcoming transfer window, with Kylian Mbappe being one of Los Blancos’ alleged targets for the summer.

Mbappe recently suggested that he could find a new challenge elsewhere following a historic season at the tender age of 20 years, so rumors over a potential move to the Spanish giants have resurfaced and flooded the social media ever since.

So, now that they’re both on international duty with France, the defender had nothing but praise for the Paris Saint-Germain wonderkid, and while he refused to directly address a potential summer move for his compatriot, his words made his stance over his arrival pretty clear.

“I don’t want to talk about potential signings. I am focused on France. I have not talked to Kylian directly. We are focused on our preparation and on tomorrow’s game and upcoming ones, so I won’t talk about possible transfers. Kylian is very important for France. We count on him very much. During a career there some steps we need to take growing up, that’s natural. Kylian keeps learning and going forward, which he does very quickly. It’s good that he is ambitious. He is self-confident, it’s good. He always wants more. Things come naturally in a career. From experience, I know that things progress season by season. It’s never easy but it’s good, and with France, he is always growing in confidence,” Varane claimed before France’s 2-0 triumph over Bolivia (as quoted by Sport).

It’s no secret that Mbappe grew up as a diehard Real Madrid fan with Cristiano Ronaldo as his idol, and playing under Zinedine Zidane may be a dream come true for the striker, who’s currently the world’s most promising goal-scorer.

Still, the team has been pretty clear regarding their desire to hold on to Mbappe, at least for the time being, and with Madrid already trying to secure the signings of Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard, they may be low on budget to also make a run at Mbappe.
