Charles Barkley has been known for telling what he feels no matter where he is or whom he’s talking to. Chuck hasn’t lost a chance to make people know what he thinks and feels and that’s what makes him one of the best NBA analysts right now.
For instance, on Tuesday, Barkley was discussing the possible arrival of Kevin Durant to the New York Knicks and the former 76ers and Suns star didn’t look that sure about KD and his mental makeup, as he would have to deal with New York media and seeing the past of Durant arguing with fans online, perhaps he won’t be able to keep it together in the Big Apple.
“Well, I’d say, ‘Kevin you’re one of the greatest players I’ve ever seen. You’ve also got some of the thinnest skin I’ve ever seen. I don’t know if you’re made for New York City,’” Barkley said on a conference call to promote American Century Championship golf tournament. “I think that would be the toughest aspect.
“If he’s arguing with these teenagers online, he’s not going to be able to deal with that New York media. He’s a great person, he’s a great player. I don’t think he has the mental makeup to play in New York, that’s just my personal opinion.”
Barkley has a very valid point; KD has a history doing that stuff in the past and if that happens with fans criticizing him online, imagine what would happen if he reads the papers blasting him every single day. Real world criticism is not something you can avoid to see by turning your cellphone off and maybe that’s the biggest challenge for Durant if he goes to New York.
However, all of that can be prevented if he decides to keep in his safe place, with the Golden State Warriors.
