Gianluigi Buffon confirmed on Wednesday that he will leave Paris Saint-Germain when his contract is expired after only one year playing with the French multiple champions. The team has already begun the search for Buffon’s replacement and they have targeted two top keepers for the job. Gigi shared duties with Alphonse Areola during his first and only season in Paris, but now the club doesn’t look very interested in the idea of promoting the French World Cup winner as number one.
Just like they have been doing in recent campaigns, PSG will try to find a good asset in the transfer market and the names they have, make their fans dream ahead of next season. Manchester United’s David De Gea and Real Madrid outgoing Keylor Navas are the two players expected to land in Paris this summer.
De Gea has been linked with PSG for quite a while now, ever since we learned that his contract talks with Manchester United were going nowhere. The Spanish international has only one year remaining of his contract, a scenario that leaves Man. Utd. in a not-so-good position.
According to The Times, Les Parisiens are ‘ready to make a bid’ for De Gea. The newspaper claims that ‘sources close to De Gea’ have revealed he is nowhere near to reach a new agreement with the Red Devils even though negotiations started two years ago. The club won’t meet De Gea’s £350,000-per-week wage demands and also insists that they won’t let him go this summer. That’s not a good move for them, as they can see David leaving the team for nothing next summer when his current contract expires.

Yet, this move can’t be that easy for PSG since De Gea is not interested in joining them given the lack of competitiveness there is in Ligue 1 and that’s when Keylor Navas makes his appearance, as the three-time Champions League winner might be an easier signing for Thomas Tuchel’s team.
Marca claims that ‘discussions have already begun’ between the French side and Navas, who is set to leave Real Madrid after the club informed him he’s not part of the team’s plans for next season. Even though he played a major role in Madrid European dominance, Navas lost his starting spot to Thibaut Courtois when the Belgian arrived in Spain last summer.
Now PSG can take advantage of both players’ situations and sign a goalkeeper that will assure them great results.
