For Golden State star Klay Thompson, his fate has always intertwined with the Warriors. Since his debut in 2011, nobody has questioned his loyalty to the franchise. Even now, as the star nears a critical free agency, most are reluctant to say he will be anywhere but where he has always been.
But the rumor mill does have one more log to throw into the fire.
According to FOX Sports’ Jason McIntyre, Klay is “locked in” to join Lebron James in Space Jam 2.
“Everybody thinks (Klay Thompson) is probably staying with the Warriors and I would agree with that,” McIntyre said. “But I heard some news this week that could change things. That Klay Thompson is now ‘locked in’ to do ‘Space Jam 2.’ I don’t think that news is anywhere.
“I Googled it last night, I went on the internet. Nobody has it. I do believe an announcement will come out after The Finals that Klay Thompson is committed to ‘Space Jam 2,’ he will be in the movie.”
What does this mean? It could simply be that Klay wants to join a respected colleague to film a movie classic. It might also be a hint of Thompson’s growing relationship with LeBron James — a relationship that could turn into a partnership if they decide to team up on the Lakers this summer.
Either way, maybe we should slow our roll on the assurance that Thompson will be a Warriors for life. Because if we know anything about NBA basketball, it is how quickly things can change.
