The Raptors are known, among other things, for having an electric fan base. They have an entire country on their side, and the fanbase has always shown up in the big moments.
But last night, they put on a display that was less than admirable.
When Kevin Durant went down with an Achilles injury (he will have an MRI today), the fans in the stadium actually cheered and clapped (some even waved) in celebration. It wasn’t just them either. Fans all around the world, in bars and watch parties were captured celebrating the loss of, perhaps, the best player in the world.
Folks were understandably angry, including Durant’s teammates Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, who had some words about the ordeal postgame.
“That’s not my experience with this city and I hope we don’t see that kind of ugliness again,” said Steph.
Klay was a little less shy in expressing his displeasure.
“It was bullshit. That was freaking ridiculous. I can’t even put into words how mad I was about that.”

Evidently, karma got the Raptors pretty good, as they went on to lose the game by one point, despite the loss of KD.
Hopefully, next time, they will be a little more respectful about a serious injury to a player — regardless of what team that player might be on.
