Manchester City are looking to offer an appealing deal to Portuguese side Benfica for one of their most talented players in recent years. The Eagles have been rumored to lose one of their biggest figures this summer and the time has apparently come.

The Citizens are looking to hand an offer to Benfica for a loan-back deal in an attempt to persuade the Portuguese to part with wonderkid Joao Felix and fend off city rivals Manchester United and Atletico Madrid. The 19-year-old starlet just had a wonderful season with his club and country this term, which allowed him to be tracked by a number of clubs across the continent, trying to meet his rumored £105 million release clause.

Initial reports suggested Atletico Madrid were the frontrunners to get Felix’s signature, with the Rojiblancos assuring the Portuguese youngster that he would be granted first-team football if he decided to join them. Now, according to The Mirror, Pep Guardiola has no intentions to add another striker to his squad next season, so that City would be willing to loan back Felix to Benfica if the Primeira Liga champions sell him.

In recent days Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira stated the only way to keep Felix with the team was if the team that signed him decides to loan Felix back and that’s exactly what the Sky Blues are willing to do.

The Premier League champions are hoping that this offer will take them to have the winning hand to secure a deal for the striker. Sergio Aguero is not getting any younger and Gabriel Jesus hasn’t delivered as expected in Etihad and having a player like Joao to replace any of these two is a very good option for the English side.
