The Los Angeles Lakers are currently the frontrunners to win the 2019-20 NBA Championship and we haven’t even reached the preseason and that’s all thanks to the trade that got Anthony Davis to join forces with LeBron James.

However, Rob Pelinka is nowhere near satisfied quite yet and will continue to pursue more top-tier talents in the offseason, although there are several moves that need to be done in order to clear some cap space and pursue another superstar.

With the Lakers already rumored to pursue either Kyrie Irving or Kemba Walker, it now looks like their top priority is getting more help in the wing and signing a two-way proven superstar.

That’s why, according to David Lord of 247 Sports, the team is going to try and make a run at Kawhi Leonard and Jimmy Butler, and are currently felling quite confident they can land one or the other.

Adrian Wojnarowski had already claimed Leonard’s focus will be with the Los Angeles Clippers this summer, so the Lakers may need to try extra hard to make a convincing pitch for the reigning Finals MVP.

Butler, however, was rumored to be interested in joining forces with LeBron for quite some time and wouldn’t hesitate to sign with the Lakers in case they’re able to offer him a max contract.

Following one of the most disappointing seasons in franchise history, the Lakers are now incredibly favored to win it all next season, as they know they can’t waste another year of LeBron’s prime and will now go all-in to go back to the playoffs.

Risking their entire future on a one-year rental for a big man hasn’t always paid off for the Lakers, but Pelinka’s bound to continue being aggressive in the offseason in order to finally get this team back to the top of the basketball world, especially with Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson most likely out for the 2019-20 season.
