The NBA offseason has just begun and therefore, there are a lot of things that are likely to change in the blink of an eye, with general managers poised to spend a lot of money to bring some stars on board.
With the NBA Draft just around the corner and free agency about to begin, let’s take a look at the hottest NBA trade and signing rumors as of today, so you don’t miss out on any of the action of the greatest basketball in the world:
7. Hawks And Cavaliers Discussing Draft Day Trade
According to several reports, the Atlanta Hawks are aggressively trying to trade up in the Draft, and with the Cleveland Cavaliers not exactly sold on any of the prospects that may slip to the 5th spot, they could try and move it.
So, as per Paul Crane, the Hawks and Cavs are discussing a potential trade that would send the 10th and 17th pick to Cleveland in return for the 5th overall pick, and it could also expand to include Kevin Love.
6. Patrick Beverley To Meet With The Lakers
Even though Beverley took a lot of shots at the Los Angeles Lakers this season and even claimed the Clippers were the best team in the city, he’s going to have a meeting with Rob Pelinka in the summer.
According to Sean Deveney, the pesky defender is going to meet with as much as 5 teams before meeting with the Los Angeles Clippers, so the Lakers could end up signing him if they strike out on Kyrie Irving or Kemba Walker.
5. Knicks Interested In Julius Randle
Julius Randle is coming off a career year and just declined his player option to come back with the New Orleans Pelicans after the team acquired half of the Lakers’ young core and is poised to land Zion Williamson in the Draft.
So, with the Knicks most likely to strike out on Kyrie Irving, they’re going to try and find scoring elsewhere in free agency, and SNY reported there’s actually mutual interest between them and the Kentucky product.
4. Phoenix Interested In D’Angelo Russell
With the Brooklyn Nets reportedly all-in on Kyrie Irving, there’s a chance the team is not going to be able or willing to also keep D’Angelo Russell on board as a restricted free agent, and he’s already gauging a lot of interest around the league.
And after striking out on Spencer Dinwiddie and Lonzo Ball, the Suns could try and pursue Russell in free agency, and Jordan Clarkson, who was teammates with Russell in the Lakers, actually predicted he’ll end up in the desert.
3. Pelicans To Pursue Trade For Bradley Beal
The New Orleans Pelicans completed a huge trade with the Los Angeles Lakers that included as much as 3 first round picks, and while they’re already entitled with the 1st overall pick in this year’s Draft, they might as well use the 4th to get a proven player right away.
That’s why, according to Shams Charania, David Griffin is more than willing to move such pick in order to get Bradley Beal and the deal could fall through with the Wizards bound to enter rebuild-mode with John Wall in the shelf for the season.
2. Chris Paul Wants Out Of Houston Due To Broken Relationship With James Harden
Once again, it looks like Chris Paul is bringing more troubles than help to the locker room, as the 2nd round exit has created chaos in the Houston Rockets, who are now open to trade everybody not named James Harden.
As per Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports, Paul’s relationship with Harden has reached a point of no return and is now “unsalvageable” and there’s no respect between the two, even though he went on to Instagram to refute such take.
1. Kawhi Leonard To Focus On The Clippers
Kawhi Leonard climbed his way to the top of the league and is now considered by much as the best two-way player in the world. Obviously, that means most of the attention is going to go his way in free agency.
While the Clippers are expected to make him a huge offer and were reportedly in the driver’s seat to resign him, Adrian Wojnarowski has reported that the reigning Finals MVP will focus on the Clippers in the offseason.
