It’s no question that James Harden is one of the most talented NBA players in the league but he has certainly faced a lot of criticism for his famous ‘step-back’ jump shot. One of the most difficult moves to guard, the shot has received criticism for being nothing more than a travel from many players, fans and NBA experts.

The reigning MVP recently spoke out about the signature move and the attraction it’s caused when speaking at an event. When asked about how he feels about the younger generation imitating his style of play, Harden responded by hitting back at his hater’s critics.

“That’s when you’re doing something right, right? Then you have the haters who talk about ‘Is that a travel?’ ‘Is that too many steps?’ or, ‘Why is he wearing this? He doesn’t look right.’ That’s just the haters. That’s when you know you’re doing something right when you’ve got people talking about you.” He finished his statement with, “I let the haters keep talking.”

James Harden: “Then you have the haters who talk about is that a travel, is that too many steps or why is he wearing this? That’s just the haters. That’s when you know you’re doing something right when you’ve got people talking about you…I let the haters keep talking.”

It’s definitely one of Harden’s signature moves that makes him such a difficult player to match-up on, frustrating a lot of opponents.

The Houston Rockets guard also spoke about what the team needs to do in preparation for the 2019-20 season.

“We gotta stay healthy. That was one of the reasons that kind of set us back this past year,” he said. “Health, which is something you really can’t control when it’s basketball. Injuries happen. We just gotta be a little bit better. Myself, Chris [Paul], everyone who is on the roster, come back and just be a little bit better.”

The Rockets finished in fourth place of the Western Conference before they bowed out in the Semi-Finals to the Golden State Warriors, losing the series 4 to 2. The Rockets have been a contender for the last few seasons but are still yet to reach the Finals with this list, improvements will need to be made if they are any chance of a championship.
