Although Barcelona is not actively trying to cut links with some of their players, they don’t rule out selling some of their assets if the right offer comes. The Blaugrana is aiming to get big players this summer and they would have to sell some of their own at some point to balance their finances.
One of the possible names that would be leaving Barcelona during the summer is French defender Samuel Umtiti, who has been drawing interest from various teams around Europe and now his future might be out of Spain. However, the Blaugrana will only accept offers above €50 million.
Umtiti landed in Barcelona back in 2016 from Lyon and instantly became one of the club’s first-choice defenders, but an injury near the end of the 2017/18 season made the 25-year-old miss a bunch of games with the Catalans and saw his participation with the club considerably diminished.
With Clement Lenglet having outstanding performances while Umititi was out, Sport claim that Barcelona are now open to let Samuel go this summer, albeit they aren’t pushing for the Frenchman to leave.
The relationship between the club and the player hasn’t been the best given Umititi’s attitude in certain situations that affected him and the club. Although they aren’t trying to sell him right away, the Blaugrana are expecting to see an offer of over €50 million for the World Cup winner. Clubs like Manchester United and Juventus have expressed their interest in Samuel, but neither has placed an official bid for him.
The center-back has shown his desire to stay in Camp Nou to recover his old shape and the club will give him the chance to do so, but that doesn’t assure they won’t sell him if the right offer knocks the door.
Still, no offers have arrived for the Frenchman so far, but that could be different at the end of the transfer window.
