Real Madrid are keen to land Paul Pogba this summer, no matter what they have to do or pay to sign the midfielder. However, that could be a difficult task for Los Blancos since Manchester United have said they don’t have any interest in selling Pogba this summer, and, even if the Red Devils decide to part ways with the star, Juventus are also on the hunt for Pogba and some say their chances to sign the Frenchman are bigger than Madrid’s.

That is why the Spanish giants need to look elsewhere and see what alternatives they have in case Manchester keep reluctant to let the 26-year-old go or if Juventus are the ones who convince the English to ship Pogba. If you’re a Real Madrid fan or just want to know how all this can end and what options Real have if they fail to purchase Pogba, here are others talented players who will do great under Zinedine Zidane.

These are the 5 best alternatives to Paul Pogba for Real Madrid.

Christian Eriksen

Everybody knows Eriksen is the first option for Los Blancos if they strike out to make a deal for Pogba and a move for the Dane would be more than justified. He’s one of the best passers in European football and is very intelligent with the ball on his feet, a player who can run the offense easily.

He had tremendous seasons with Tottenham Hotspur, even landing to the Champions League Final last campaign, but as he’s stated before, is time for new challenges and Madrid appear to be waiting for Eriksen if they finally don’t land Pogba.

Miralem Pjanic

This Bosnian midfielder has also been linked with Madrid over the summer as a very good alternative to Paul Pogba. Pjanic has done great things whenever he went to play in the top 5 European leagues. He was marvelous for Lyon, then replicated his performances with Roma and now is doing the same with Juventus.

Miralem knows what it is to play for a big club and can easily run the show for Zinedine Zidane and his Real Madrid. The Bosnian would be a cheaper option to Pogba for the White House, but he looks a little behind some other players on Madrid’s wishlist.

Donny Van De Beek

Donny van de Beek was one of the most important figures for Dutch side Ajax last season, taking the team to play in the Champions League semi-finals after several years, making big contributions to take them to the big stages.

Van de Beek might follow former teammate Frenkie de Jong’s footsteps and join a Spanish team, but instead of Barcelona, he’d go to Real Madrid, who have also shown their interest in counting with the 22-year-old within their ranks next season.

He is a very dynamic player who can take the ball across the field and can score, something that adds more value to him.

Fabian Ruiz

Fabian Ruiz landed in Napoli at the beginning of the 2018/19 season from Betis and the Spaniard did nothing but enchant everybody in Italy with his performances. That made Real Madrid turn their heads to him, but he gained more admiration from Los Blancos during the U21 European tournament that he played with Spain.

He confirmed with his national side all the good things he did throughout his season with the Italian club, taking Spain to play in the tournament final and even scoring a goal in the big game against Germany. Napoli know how coveted the midfielder is now and they will try to put a huge release clause in his contract to get the most they can out of a potential Ruiz’s departure. Madrid need to move fast if they want to secure this guy.

Giovani Lo Celso

This Argentine has done great things throughout the entire season with Betis following a cloudy tenure with Paris Saint-Germain. Well, taking his talents to Spain was the best decision for Lo Celso as he’s one of the most wanted players across Europe this summer.

Albeit some suggest that his future might be in England, Real Madrid have also stated they would be interested in signing Lo Celso at some point. However, Lo Celso’s situation is very similar to Fabian Ruiz’s, as Betis will probably demand a huge fee for him seeing how good he played in the Copa America with his national team.

They could get a player who is young, who already knows the league and demonstrated that he can be an important asset in Spain.
