Contrary to what reports stated recently, it looks like Leroy Sane might actually join Bayern Munich this summer. Even though Manchester City were reportedly keen to maintain the player with them, now things look different.

Last season he barely made 21 Premier League starts for the English champions, with Raheem Sterling being favored over Sane to play on the left flank, impacting the player’s status in the team.

According to 90min, Sane might be making his way out of the Etihad Stadium in the next weeks as Bayern haven’t ruled out a move for the Germany international.

Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed the team’s interest in Sane earlier this week, but there is an obstacle they’ll have to overcome in order to land Leroy, and that’s the price. City are reportedly looking for at least £80 million.

Manchester have no pressure to sell Sane this summer, but the winger might have different ideas regarding his future, having in mind that he may be a key player in Allianz Arena rather than Etihad.

The Bavarians expect Leroy to come back from vacation and join City’s pre-season to start the negotiations about a potential Sane return to Germany after leaving Schalke 04 back in 2016.

Rummenigge confirmed in a recent press conference that Sane was ‘considering’ his options, but that he’s optimistic a deal can be done in the end.

“The current situation with Sane is that he comes back from vacation this week,” Rummenigge said, via Goal. “We are still looking for wingers as we lost two valuable players in (Arjen) Robben and (Franck) Ribery.

“You have to say the buzz is different. We are speaking in the nine-digit range almost as if it is normal. There are almost two months left until the transfer market closes, and these two months will bring many more uncertainties.

“Everything is waiting for the dominoes to fall and then there will be this effect. Then let’s wait and see what Bayern will do.”

Nobody doubts of the quality of Sane but seeing how things developed for him last season in England, perhaps a comeback to Germany doesn’t sound so bad for him after all. This won’t likely be the last time we hear about this saga.
