While Juventus are planning to bring big players this summer, they will also try to sell some of their own trying to balance the book and change veterans for younger players in the process. One of the players who appear to be leaving Juventus is Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic, who has had a marvelous four-year tenure with the Old Lady.
Knowing that the team is not against the idea of selling Mandzukic, a comeback to Germany appears as the best option for the Croatian. Having spent two years in both Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg, respectively, now Mario might be making his return to the Bundesliga, where two big teams wait for him.
The aforementioned Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund look set to start a bidding war over the signing of Mandzukic. Despite being 33, last season he had an important role with the Zebras, starting most of the games for the Serie A champions alongside Cristiano Ronaldo in the offense. However, now a change of team is in sight for the attacker, with reports in Italy suggesting Juve are ready to part with him.
According to Sport Bild, Mario’s two biggest suitors are the German rivals, with FCB thinking of Mandzukic as the perfect backup for Robert Lewandowski and BVB trying to add some depth and leadership to a team full of youth.
Bayern have made good signings this summer in Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard, but facing the loss of Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben, the Bavarians need to add some weapons in the attack. With Leroy Sane’s future up in the air, Bayern have to look for alternatives to boost their offense.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira, Juventus are asking €15 million in order to let Mandzukic go, and Dortmund look set to beat their rivals to secure the striker’s signature.
