We are halfway through the summer transfer window and things will get more interesting from now on. There are plenty of sagas that need to be solved in the next few days, with some signings set to take place and shock everybody around Europe.
Barcelona finally signed Antoine Griezmann after a difficult couple of months and that appears to be the beginning of a very entertaining summer transfer window for the Blaugrana. Just like them, the rest of teams across the continent will try to get themselves a couple of pieces that can enhance their level and take them to play for big things.
While some moves have been discarded by some clubs, others have ignited surprising interest in new players. If you missed what’s been happening in the old continent, today we’re going to catch up with the latest news.
Here are the latest soccer transfer rumors.
Leroy Sane Set To Stay With Manchester City As Bayern Munich Ruled Out Move For The Winger
Great news for Manchester City, as they will be able to retain their star winger Leroy Sane. The Germany international was the top target of Bayern Munich this summer, but seeing the fee demanded by the Citizens, the Bavarians have ruled out a move for the 23-year-old.
According to Sky Sports Germany, Bayern have given up hope of finishing a £100 million deal for Sane this summer. Sane is now ready to join the Sky Blues for their pre-season tour of Asia and will be a part of their squad next season, no doubt about it.
James Rodriguez Is Close To Join Atletico Madrid As They Placed A Bid For The Colombian
James Rodriguez knows there is no room for him in Real Madrid and has been looking for a new team this summer. Luckily for him, he wouldn’t have to move out of Madrid in order to play with his new team, as Atletico Madrid look closer to land the Colombian playmaker.
Rodriguez spent the last two seasons on loan in Munich, and this summer he was rumored to head to Napoli, but the Italian outfit has apparently decreased their interest in the Colombian, who now looks set to join Atletico Madrid. According to Marca, James sees with good eyes the possibility of joining Atletico as he wants to remain in Madrid.
Arsenal ‘Make £72 Million Bid’ For Lille Winger Nicolas Pepe After Discarding Wilfried Zaha Move
Nicolas Pepe has been linked with several teams during the offseason and now he could be landing in one that no one saw coming. Premier League side Arsenal have reportedly made an offer for the Ivorian winger, who had a marvelous season with Lille last year.
According to French outlet Telefoot, Arsenal have made a bid of £72 million for the winger. The Gunners are also interested in Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha, but that move doesn’t seem very likely as the days go by. Last year Pepe had a terrific season, netting 23 goals in 45 games, which made Lille value him at £60 million.
Matthijs De Ligt Is Ready To Join Juventus After Ajax Agree £63 Million Deal
The Matthijs de Ligt saga is nearing its end as the Dutch defender has everything done with Juventus, and the only thing missing is the official announcement, according to reports in Italy. Matthijs became the most coveted player in Europe after a great season with Ajax, drawing heavy interest from Juventus, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Liverpool.
However, La Vecchia Signora finally signed the wonderkid, who will be announced as the team’s new incorporation in the next days. La Gazzetta dello Sport report that De Ligt will become the highest-paid defender in Italy once he completes his £63 million move to Turin.
Real Madrid Keen To Keep Dani Ceballos As Premier League Interest Increases
Even though Real Madrid are eager to recoup some of the £300 million they spent during this offseason, selling Dani Ceballos is not a real possibility for Los Blancos right now. They looked set to part ways with the Spaniard starlet before, but now they changed their mind and won’t be selling the 22-year-old.
Ceballos is now ready to stay in the Spanish capital, despite drawing a lot of interest from Arsenal, Liverpool, and Tottenham. According to Marca, Madrid see Ceballos as a potential star and believe one more season at the Bernabeu will help him become a guaranteed starter for the club. Dani exceeded with Spain Under-21 side at the European Championships in June, helping his side to win the championship, which made Madrid change their stance on the player.
Manchester United ‘Agree’ World-Record £80 Million Deal For Harry Maguire
Manchester United won’t have Matthijs de Ligt this summer, but they will secure another great defender in Leicester City’s Harry Maguire, who is set to join the Red Devils on a world-record £80 Million deal. The current holder of the world-record transfer for a defender is Virgil van Dijk with the £75 million that Liverpool paid to bring him to Anfield from Southampton in 2018.
According to the Sun, United are ready to break that record as they will pay £60 million up front for Maguire, with an extra £20m available in add-ons. Both United and City had placed offers of £70 million for the 26-year-old, but Leicester rejected both. With the Foxes waiting for an improved offer, the Citizens ruled out a move for the center-back, clearing the path for their city rivals, who are closer to get their star defender once and for all.
