Usually, when a player has just arrived at a new team, they’re always talking about having the desire to play on the said club until the end of their careers, or at least for a very long time.
However, it looks like that’s not the case with Joao Felix, Atletico de Madrid’s record signing and one of Europe’s most promising prospects right now.
Thing is, when doing an AMA (Ask Me Anything) with Bleacher Report, the Portuguese forward claimed he’d want to play in the English Premier League. Which made the interviewers inquire about a possible move to Tottenham Hotspur:
“Me, to Spurs?” he answered. ” (Right) now that’s impossible, but I don’t know, (maybe) one day,” he responded at the Tottenham question.
Joao Felix was one of Mauricio Pochettino’s top targets for the summer, but he was eventually outcasted by Atletico de Madrid’s €126 million bid for ‘The New Cristiano Ronaldo’.
Nonetheless, Felix doesn’t seem to care about how much money Los Colchoneros spent on him to replace Antoine Griezmann, claiming he’s only there to do his job and improve as a player.
“I don’t really care about (the price tag) or the money, I just want to be playing and I just want to get my job done. That’s the most important thing. It’s a dream come true to be playing with Atletico, one of the best teams in Europe and the world. I’m very happy. I don’t have any problems with pressure, it’s my job. I have to know how to handle that. (I have to) Just keep working and listen to people that want the best for me,” he said of being deemed too lightweight for top-level football. And work, work, work”, he concluded.
Still, listening to your newest reinforcement talk about him wanting to play elsewhere even before making his official debut isn’t exactly a great look.
