The Internazionale-Romelu Lukaku saga has taken a different path in recent days, and a deal appears to be harder to be completed as the days go by. Antonio Conte and company expected the Belgian striker to be the new leader of Inter attack, but Manchester United have turned down all the offers they’ve made.

Therefore, the Italian giants have put their attention on a different player, one who has displayed all his talents both in Italy and France. Uruguayan frontman Edinson Cavani is now the Nerazzurri’s primary target for the rest of the summer.

Besides Lukaku, they couldn’t get AS Roma’s Edin Dzeko and the club has gotten to work to find solutions.

According to beIN Sports reporter Tancredi Palmeri, Inter have offered Edinson Cavani a three-year contract with a €9m-per-year.

This offer comes after Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta revealed that United had asked for too much for Lukaku (via Sky Sports Italia):

“We made an important bid to Man United for Lukaku but Man United ask so much for Romelu.

“We didn’t find an agreement but we’re still working for Lukaku. I don’t know what will happen in the next days, football is so strange. We have made a fair and important offer respecting the value of the player.”

It was reported that Atletico Madrid was also on the hunt for Cavani, but with the arrival of Joao Felix, those rumors have disappeared. Now we have to wait and see what Inter are going to do to get the Uruguayan since PSG still consider him a very important part of the team.

Cavani was purchased by Paris Saint-Germain in 2013 for a fee of £63 million from Napoli. Six years later, he is the club’s all-time record goalscorer, netting 193 goals in 279 matches.
