The name of David Griffin has been in everybody’s mouths in recent hours, as the former Cleveland Cavaliers GM made some statements about his times with the Cavs that dropped a lot of jaws. Besides, he discussed his days with LeBron James, making some remarks that have shocked everybody around the league.

Griffin was interviewed by Sports Illustrated and didn’t miss the chance to talk about a variety of topics of his days in Cleveland. He revealed that he felt ‘miserable’ each one of the three years he spent at the Quicken Loans Arena trying to build a team that could compete for a title.

“Everything we did was so inorganic and unsustainable and, frankly, not fun. I was miserable,” Griffin said. “Literally the moment we won the championship I knew I was gonna leave. There was no way I was gonna stay for any amount of money.”

Furthermore, he went on to talk about LeBron James, daring to say he hasn’t been the same player since he won a championship with the Cavs.

During Tuesday’s episode of The Jump on ESPN, Dave David McMenamin reported that LeBron and his camp read the comments and were “shocked” by them. This is indeed surprising, especially knowing that Griffin had been in contact with James since they parted ways in 2017. LeBron believed they were on good terms, but based on the comments, things aren’t like that anymore.

To add more tension to this whole thing, LeBron took on Twitter to send a message to anyone trying to mess with him, which some could say was directly aimed at Griffin.

Obviously, we knew these comments were going to have consequences, and we have started to see them. It’ll be good to see what effect they will have on LeBron’s game as the season gets closer every day.
