Devin Booker is without any hesitation one of the most talented players in the NBA right now; he’s a prolific scorer who can do great things on the court. However, although he’s been very good for his team, the Phoenix Suns, Booker would like to have some help in Arizona or even go somewhere else to know what it feels like to be part of a competitive team.
During an interview with Dave King of SB Nation, Booker revealed that he’d love to play with good friend D’Angelo Russell someday. Yet, he also understands that their respective teams are in different positions at this moment. While the Suns will be at the bottom of the West next season, the Warriors are set to demonstrate they still are a dangerous team.
“Obviously, when you have that chance of playing with a life long friend it would be a great opportunity,” Booker said on possibly playing with Russell in the future. “But I think he’s in a good situation now with the Warriors.”
A potential backcourt of Booker and Russell would indeed be really fun to see, but we’ll have to wait sometime before we get to see these two sharing touches. Booker signed a five-year deal last year to remain in Phoenix, while Russell committed to a four-year deal with the Warriors last month.
Even though the Suns were interested in Russell during the offseason, right now the only chance these two have to play together is if their teams decide to trade them to a specific franchise, but seeing the quality their quality, their youth and especially the size of their contracts, it doesn’t look like we’ll be watching Booker and Russell playing alongside each other in the near future.
