At first glance, it looks like signing Harry Maguire was the best move for Manchester United, as even his new teammates were impressed with his performance and attitude during their team’s season debut.

The Red Devils thrashed Chelsea 4-0 and thrived off their offense, but even so, it was Maguire the one that stood up from the rest of the pack, earning a lot of praise from Paul Pogba:
“Honestly, as you saw, he was really impressive. He is a leader. He fit right in with us in training. We talked about controlling the defense well and he has a good understanding with Victor (Lindelof). It was a very good match to start with the whole team. In the first half, we were dominated in terms of chances and possession, but we reacted in the second. Our changes enabled us to take over. We were better in the possession and in terms of chances. We were lucky to have the lead through the penalty in the first half, but after a bad start, we finished the match well. We are satisfied with our performance,” Pogba told the media after the match.
United spent £80 million to sign Maguire from Leicester City and while most people were asking for a new striker, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looked quite confident on his current team’s ability to score goals.
And judging for what the Red Devils showed during their first outing of the season, you can tell why the Norweigan boss was so high on his offense entering the season, with Marcus Rashford scoring two goals and Anthony Martial and Daniel James contributing with one apiece.
As for Pogba, it looks like he’ll stay put at Old Trafford for, at least, another season after Real Madrid and Juventus already gave up on their pursuit for his services.
