Alexis Sanchez’s bad moments in Manchester keep happening, and the most recent one doesn’t help the Chilean player in his attempt to recover the confidence he used to have during his best days. The forward has reportedly been left furious with academy product Mason Greenwood following a clash during pre-season.
Sanchez is putting a big effort to go back to being the same player he was during his days with Arsenal, which made the Red Devils land sign him back in 2018. He’s still fighting to be in proper shape this Premier League season after suffering a hamstring injury at the end of the Copa América, where Sanchez’s national team suffered a shock defeat in the semi-finals to Peru.
The Sun claimed that during his first training session with the club, he clashed with 17-year-old Greenwood following a tackle from the teenager, which apparently sparked a spat between the pair. It’s unclear how serious it all was, but it looks like it didn’t help Sanchez to gain the trust of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who favored Greenwood last Sunday, making him play as a substitute in the smashing 4-0 victory over Chelsea in the Premier League opener.
Alexis has been linked with a move overseas this summer, and now Italian side Roma sound like a very plausible destination for the forward, with Manchester considering sending him to the Italian capital on a season-long loan deal.
United and Solskjaer have changed their mindset this summer; seeing the signings they made and the age of the players that they want to get rid of, like Alexis, the Red Devils appear to be building a youth-centered philosophy under Solskjaer, leaving no space to Sanchez, who was never able to live up to the expectations since he made it to Manchester from Arsenal.
