With the acquisition of Anthony Davis, the Lakers have become amongst the favorites in the West. Still, they will need the help of Kyle Kuzma if they are to ever reach their full potential.

In his two seasons as a pro, there has been a lot of ups-and-downs. But this summer, as he works for Team USA and continues his progression as a player, it seems he has finally grown the defensive aspect of his game.

In a quote by fellow young star Donovan Mitchell, who has been working out with Kuzma summer, the third-year forward has made quite a stride in his game.

“He’s a defensive player now. He can play defense. People kind of knock (his defense), I don’t know why … But he’s a guy who’s taking the charge, communicating … I think that shows a lot to his maturity and a lot about his work ethic.”

We don’t really know how much of an improvement Kuzma has made this summer, but it sounds as if he has been working hard to increase his status in the league.

The Lakers will no doubt need all the help they can get if they are to beat their other competitors in the Western Conference next season.
